ZIMBABWE’S top female tennis player, Cara Black remained on course for her second career US Open doubles title after sailing through to the third round of this year’s event at Flushing Meadows.
Cara who has teamed up with Australia’s Anastasia Rodionova broke little sweat as the pair eased past Russian Alla Kudryavtseva and Derya Kutsova of Belarus beating them 6-4, 6-1 in the second round.
In the first round Cara and Rodionova who are seeded ninth breezed past the unseeded pair of Italian Alberta Brianti and Urszula Radwasnka of Poland winning 6-2, 6-3.
In the third round, Cara and her playing partner will face the unseeded German pair of Julia Goerges and Anna-lena Groenfield.
The Zimbabwean won the US Open in 2008 and mad it to the finals last year.
She is yet to win a doubles grand slam this year after clinching the Australian Open and Wimbledon mixed doubles titles with Indian playing partner Leander Paes.
Meanwhile Cara and Paes, seeded second, moved to the second round of the mixed doubles after defeating Czech Republic's Lucie Hradecka and Frantisek Cermak 6-4, 7-5 on Friday.
