Dynamos 1-1 Douglas Warriors

DYNAMOS coach Elvis Chiweshe resigned to the club’s FANS on Wednesday after his team’s Premiership title ambitions suffered a reversal at Rufaro.

After watching Milton Kurewa’s second half goal for Douglas Warriors cancel out a Guthrie Zhokinyu penalty conversion in the first period, the Dynamos coach appeared to tip over the edge, telling Dynamos fans: “I’m resigning.”

But moments later, Chiweshe – whose team trails leaders Motor Action by nine points – said he would consult his wife overnight and reach a decision over his future.

"I think we conceded a silly goal. We could have won,” Chiweshe said after the match. “As for my future with Dynamos, I will go home and sit down with my wife and then take a decision that is in the interests of both my family and the club.”

Dynamos must regroup quickly from the setback as they travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo on Sunday to face African champions TP Mazembe in a Champions League group match.

Dynamos will be without SEVEN regular players who are suspended for picking up yellow and red cards.

For the Mambas game on Wednesday, Chiweshe fielded his strongest team and Dynamos appeared set to walk it as they won a penalty just before the hour -- Hatidani Barnabas penalised for handling in the box.

Zhokinyu stepped forward and found the target with a cool finish.

But Warriors refused to lie down, showing great endeavour and brio to keep the scoreline at 1-0.

And they got rich reward for their dogged performance as Kurewa rose highest to meet skipper Tawanda Muparati’s delivery from a corner late on to earn a draw.
