PSL Golden Boot Award winner Leonard Tsipa is tipped to win the overall Castle Lager Footballer of the Year gong at the awards dinner in Harare on Friday night.

Tsipa, who turns 35 next January, scored 11 goals in the just ended campaign, beating Hwange forward Gift Mbweti and FC Platinum's Walter Musona who scored nine goals each.

But he is likely to face competition from team mate Hardlife Zvirekwi who played a total of 28 games, missing just two owing to injury.

Zvirekwi though is likely to secure the first runner up position with Ronald Pfumbidzai up for the second runner up position. The trio helped Caps United to their first championship in over a decade.

The Green Machine coach Lloyd Chitembwe is also a favourite to win the Coach of the Year award after guiding the team to league success, becoming the first coach at the Zimbabwe champions to win the league both as player and coach.

Meanwhile, Norman Mapeza who led FC Platinum to a second-place finish in a tight race against Caps is also in contention for the award along with Highlanders' Erol Akbay who finished in third and possibly Triangle's Tonderai Ndiraya.

The referee of the year, goalkeeper of the year and promising Under-20 player of the year will also be named on Friday night.

Soccer Stars of the Year 2016:

Liberty Chakoroma (Ngezi Platinum), Clemence Matawu (Chicken Inn), Gift Mbweti (Hwange), Winstone Mhango (FC Platinum), Petros Mhari (FC Platinum), Walter Musona (FC Platinum), Peter Muduhwa (Highlanders), Godknows Murwira (Dynamos), Ronald Pfumbidzai (Caps United), Leonard Tsipa (Caps United), Hardlife Zvirekwi (Caps United).
