Manyuchi jets into Singapore ahead of next weekend match

WORLD boxing champion, Charles Manyuchi, WBC Silver titlist has arrived in Singapore ahead of the highly anticipated prestigious boxing event scheduled for next weekend on 25 March.

Sanctioned by the World Boxing Council (WBC), the WBC World Silver Championship - The Battle of the Champions: Road to Glory will be held for the first time ever in the Lion City.

For ONE night only fans and patrons will enjoy the sport of Professional Boxing “live” in an adrenalin-filled atmosphere at Singapore Sports Hub – OCBC Arena.

Manyuchi, the current WBC Silver welterweight champion met members of the media and fans at LeVeL 33, the world’s highest urban craft-brewery and modern European kitchen atop Marina Bay Financial Centre Tower 1.

With a career of 20 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw (12 KOs), he will fight to retain his eminence. The contender: Asia’s rising star from Uzbekistan, Qudratillo ‘The Punisher’ Abduqaxorov (10 0 0) with a track record of 7 KOs. Dubbed “Asia vs Africa”, this main fight promises all the intensity and pound-for-pound excitement as 2 continents collide!

Asked about the fight, Manyuchi said he will not disappoint his fans but do his best. He added that he will let his fists do the talking for him in the ring.

"I know that I will be fighting away from home but I will not be intimidated. This is an opportunity for me to show the world what I am made of."

Christopher Malunga, Promoter and Manager of Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions the stable that manages Manyuchi, said, "I would like to assure both the nations of Zambia and Zimbabwe that we are ready for the upcoming title defence by Charles Manyuchi in Singapore. Charles has been in camp and has prepared himself adequately for the fight."

There is a possibility that the fight could be streamed live on the internet by Box Africa Limited giving an opportunity for Manyuchi fans in Zimbabwe, Zambia and around the globe to watch their hero defend his title.

Box Africa Limited CEO Marshall Gore said his company has secured the exclusive TV rights from Cartel International Promotions to broadcast the fight live in Africa, focusing mainly on Zimbabwe and Zambia.

They’re now negotiating with a media partner to deliver live online or TV broadcast. Gore is also the personal advisor and agent of champion Charles Manyuchi

Also present on Thursday was home grown Darryl Edmund Kho who makes his professional debut on 25 March.

Kho started competing in 2010 and holds an amateur record 5 - 4 – 1.

He will lock horns with Malaysia’s Ridzuan Dahari.

He said, “It’s amazing to finally have the chance to make my pro debut, even more so in an event such as this. I expect this to be a challenging bout, but I am ready for it.”

Leading to the main event are six fight cards featuring international boxers in various weight categories.
