UNLICENSED Caps United captain Moses Muchenje was last week fined $800 by a Harare court over a hit and run accident.

Magistrate Ruramai Chitumbura convicted Muchenje of all counts including driving without a driver’s licence, negligent driving, failure to stop after an accident, failure to report the accident, driving without vehicle insurance and driving without a current vehicle license.

The footballer was convicted after a full trial in which he denied being involved in an accident but he failed to prove his case. He had also denied all the other charges.

However, he even failed to prove that he was a holder of a valid driver’s licence.

According to prosecutors, on 09 May last year at corner Herbert Chitepo and Prince Edward Road, Muchenje who does not have a driver’s license was driving a Honda Fit when he collided with Douglas Gahadzikwa after driving through a red traffic light on his side.

As a result of the collision, both vehicles sustained serious frontal damages and prosecutors proved that Muchenje fled the scene without reporting the accident.

It was also later discovered that he had no vehicle insurance or a valid driving license.
