NYASHA Mushekwi scored twice to add to Knowledge Musona's first half opener as Zimbabwe overwhelmed Mozambique in an international friendly at the Maxaquene Stadium in Maputo on Wednesday.

Isac Carvalho snatched a second half injury time face-saver for the hosts.

Weakened by absentees, particularly in defence, Madinda Ndlovu’s men swept the hosts aside for only Zimbabwe's first win over its eastern neighbour since 1998.

Their previous three meetings have ended in 0-0 draws.

Zimbabwe, currently hunting a replacement for Belgian coach Tom Saintfiet who failed to secure a work permit, do not play a competitive match until the last weekend of March next year when they travel to Mali.

The Warriors (2 points) are in Group A of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with leaders Cape Verde (4 points), Mali (3 points) and Liberia (1 point).

The 2012 Africa Cup of Nations will be co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
