WARRIORS coach Norman Mapeza presented a “half baked” technical report to the Zifa Board on the national team’s failure to qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The Warriors lost 2-1 to Cape Verde in the final qualifier on October 8, ending the campaign in third place while Mali took top sport along with the sole ticket to Finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Last Friday Mapeza presented ZIFA a report on the game which, sources claim, failed to address what went wrong in the campaign and was given up to Tuesday to come up a fresh consolidated document.

Sources that attended the Friday meeting said the report was deficient on the strength, shortcomings and future recommendations for the Warriors.

“We found the report shallow to say the least, because it does not give Zifa any idea on how to proceed after this failure to qualify for the finals.

“Naturally, we expected a report that covered the whole campaign, but we got just a few pages on the Cape Verde game,” sources said.

This is confirmed by the official resolutions released after the meeting, which ran from 2:30pm to 17:30hrs.

“The technical team should come up with a consolidated 2012 AFCON Campaign Review report outlining the strengths, shortcomings, observations, and recommendations,” Zifa said after the meeting.

“That report is expected to be forwarded to the ZIFA board by Tuesday 1st November 2011, through the CEO.”

Mapeza has already survived the axe after Zifa president, Cuthbert Dube backed him to stay in the job and is now set to lead the Warriors in the 2013 Afcon and 2014 World Cup qualifiers although his technical abilities remain in question.

Meanwhile, in other resolutions, the board confirmed that the international friendly match between Zimbabwe and South Africa will be held at Rufaro Stadium, in the evening of the 15th November 2011.

The board has also resolved that the Zimbabwe Senior Women’s Team will play the Egypt Senior Women’s team in Egypt on the 27th November 2011 following a request from the Egypt Football Association.

Zifa also confirmed they will play host to the 2012 Caf Africa Women’s Championships after receiving a request from the continental soccer governing body.
