ZIMBABWEANS in the UK will Sunday hold a memorial service for the late Adam Ndlovu at the Ricoh Arena.

The memorial will come a day after the burial of the former Highlanders and national team striker at the Lady Stanley Cemetery in Bulawayo.

Brother Peter's former team Coventry City Football Club have availed the iconic Legends Lounge functions room at their home ground, the Ricoh Arena, free of charge for the memorial service.

The UK commemorative service will be hosted by the AFM church in Coventry where Adam’s sisters are members.

Organisers said they expect dozens of people to attend the event, which will run from 12noon through 3PM.

“The venue we have chosen is central, and has good parking facilities. It is right in the centre of Coventry city,” said a family spokesman.

The service will feature music, poetry and testimonials from family and friends.

“This is an excellent opportunity to give a good send-off to an iconic and inspirational sporting hero whose life touched many people. We will also have time to pray for the quick recovery of Peter Ndlovu”.

In Bulawayo, thousands of people brought the city to a grinding standstill on Friday as they held a procession for Ndlovu.

A parade was held from Nyaradzo Funeral palour to Luveve Stadium, home ground for Chicken Inn Football Club, which Ndlovu coached at the time of his death.

The crowd comprised of soccer administrators, former and current players, politicians and ordinary individuals.

Speakers who addressed gatherers at Luveve stadium described Ndlovu as a legend who leaves indelible footprints in the country’s history of football.

Adam died in a car accident that injured his young brother, Peter, and killed a female passenger, Nomqhele Tshili on Sunday along the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls highway.

More information on the memorial service can be obtained from Josiah Wasunga (family) on 07900074342 and Taffi Nyawanza (AFM Church) on 07743389077.
