BELGIUM: Marvelous Nakamba is having a great start to his Club Brugge career, recently named the Belgian side’s Player of the Month.
Since joining Club Brugge from Vitesse during the summer, Nakamba has been a revelation, and is already considered a great signing.
Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad had a big article on the player and his Zimbabwe background in their Tuesday edition, and it certainly sounds like Nakamba is winning fans in the country.
Vitesse fans gave Nakamba the nickname ‘Bulldozer from Bulawayo’, and Het Nieuwsblad believe that’s unfair, because the 23-year-old has already shown there’s much more to his game.
Rather than simply being a stopper, the Belgian newspaper say Nakamba is technically very good too, the midfielder has a few tricks and uses them to the benefit of his team.
Of course, doing well in Belgium will always lead to transfer rumours, but Nakamba is said to be very clear on where he wants to go: Liverpool.
The footballer’s father is a big Liverpool fan, and the Brugge star is very keen to please his parents, so much so that Liverpool are described as his ‘dream’ club.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side already has depth in the centre of midfield. Henderson, Can and Wijnaldum has been the starting three-man central midfield this season, however they still have the likes of Oxlade-Chamberlain and Grujic on the bench, as well as Adam Lallana who is still nursing an injury.
And if that isn’t enough, Liverpool have agreed a deal in principal for RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita for around £40m.
But at the rate Nakamba is going in the Belgian League, it won’t be long before he is looked at by Europe’s top clubs, and we may see the “Bulldozer” in the Premier League sooner rather than later.
One for Klopp to keep an eye on. It could be a Marvelous signing for Liverpool.Advertisement
