DYNAMOS and CAPS United have been fined US$8,000 apiece by the Premier Soccer League after the Harare derby was marred by scenes of violence at Rufaro Stadium earlier this month.
PSL chief executive Kenny Ndebele said after receiving a report from referee Thomas Masaa, both clubs were found guilty and fined.
United fans were found to have thrown missiles onto the pitch while Dynamos were fined for failing to prevent their fans from invading the pitch at full-time.
Dynamos won the Harare derby 1-0 with defender Oscar Machapa scoring the priceless goal in the first half.
Missiles ranging from vegetables, plastic bottles and empty beer bottles were thrown on the field from the bay housing predominantly CAPS United supporters as frustration built up.
The United fans appeared incensed by Dynamos players – goalkeeper George Chigova who frequently was on the deck trying to run down the clock and substitute Clive Kawinga who also employed some time wasting tactics by feigning injury.Advertisement
