All set for Total Football International Showcase

Date:

Everything is in place for the highly anticipated Total Football International Showcase, which kicks off today at Churchill High School, bringing together some of Zimbabwe’s most promising footballers and international scouts.

The showcase gets underway with assessments for junior players aged between 13 and 17, which will run June 4-5. The senior category, comprising players aged 18 to 22, will be assessed from June 6 -9.

A special assessment session has also been scheduled for players aged over 22 who are seeking opportunities to pursue professional football careers overseas.

The event has received a major boost following the arrival of international scouts Akash Ashraf Bin Abdullah from Malaysia and Obinna Joseph Onyeaghala from Nigeria, who are in Zimbabwe to identify players with the potential to further their careers on the international stage.

Speaking upon his arrival, Akash said he was delighted to be in Zimbabwe and looked forward to discovering the country’s football talent.

“I am excited to be here in Zimbabwe. Our goal is to identify talented young players and help create opportunities for them to further their football development overseas. We also hope to identify senior players who have the quality to play professional football in Asia and Europe,” he said.

Total Football Academy Executive Director Tatenda Madzingo said the showcase represents a significant step in the academy’s efforts to expose Zimbabwean footballers to the international market.

“We are honoured to host such a high-profile event. This showcase is not just for Total Football Academy players but for talented youngsters from across Zimbabwe. We believe every gifted player deserves an opportunity to be seen by international scouts, regardless of the club they represent. We are confident this initiative will open life-changing opportunities for many Zimbabwean footballers,” said Madzingo.

The Total Football International Showcase is expected to attract talented players from across the country, with outstanding performers set to earn opportunities for international trials, scholarships and professional football contracts abroad.
