PREPARATIONS for the United Kingdom Chabvondoka music festival are at an advanced stage with organisers announcing fast rising young musician and The Voice UK finalist, Donel Mangena as the main act.
This will be the second edition of the music festival launched in 2020 to celebrate Zimbabwean music, arts and culture.
The festival will be held on October 30 from 1800 hours at New Theatre Peterborough.
Chabvondoka organised by UK based Stellah Entertainment is supported by Diaspora Insurance and World Remit.
Tickets into the event are available at newtheatre-peterborough.com pegged at E25 and can be purchased on the day.
Local artists on the line up include urban grooves legend Leonard Mapfumo, Ngoni Kambarami, Probeatz, Qounfuzed, Edith WeUtonga, Zizoe Pamyk, Sungura Magic, Xavier, DJ Me, Tsungai Tsikira, Shanky, Mathias Julius, ZimChild, DJ Firelox, DJ Principal, DJ Teechokks, Hardwest Music and Versa.
Unvaccinated attendees have been urged to take a Covid-19 PCR test before the festival to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Stellah Entertainment executive producer, Taku Manatsa said Chabvondoka was a time for people to reconnect after events had been shut down during the lockdowns.
“There has never been a more opportune time to bring people together again. We have a really exciting line-up, including the talented Donel Mangena, and our focus on local artists will allow everyone to experience and rediscover what our African musicians have to offer. Last year was a challenging time for all of us and now, we get to reconnect and celebrate music, art and community spirit, in person.”
“We’re hoping that this year’s live event will set the tone for what is to come over the next couple of years and we’ve teamed up with Diaspora Insurance and Worldremit to give our audience a show to remember in a safe environment,” Manatsa said.
