ANGOLAN football champions Desportivo De Agosto have declared that they are in Zimbabwe to finish FC Platinum in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
The second leg match will be played at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane this Wednesday.
The Angolans have an advantage over the home side after a clinical performance that saw them prevail by goals three to nil in Luanda a week ago and they are a shoo in to the first round of the continental competition.
Speaking at a press conference soon after arriving in the mining town, Monday afternoon, Desportivo Assistant Coach Ivo Traca said while they have great respect for their opponents they are on a mission to progress to the next round of the competition.
“We come here with a three-nil advantage from the first game. The game has not been won yet,” said Traca. “On Wednesday we go into the field with an objective to win the game.”
Traca said while they have to be wary of a surprise from FC Platinum they will play their normal attacking football and hope to inflict more damage on the Zimbabwean champions.
The Angolans arrived in the country last Wednesday and have been conducting their training in Harare in preparation for the match.
FC Platinum Assistant coach Patrick Mandizha said their preparations for the crunch match have been going on well.
“We are better prepared this time around,” declared Mandizha. “Most of our mistakes in the first game were attributable to poor decision making in both defence and attack.”
Mandizha revealed that they have one casualty in Rahman Kutsanzira who picked up a knee injury during training.
The former Highlanders captain who joined the league champions at the beginning of the year is likely to be replaced by veteran midfielder Charles Sibanda or speedy winger Gift Mbweti in the Wednesday game.
