THE National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) has invited for the 14th edition of the National Art Merit Awards (NAMA) which return to Harare after Bulawayo hosted the last two editions.
The awards ceremony has been slated for 14 February 2015.
In a press statement, NACZ urged artistes to submit their work by 30 November 2014.
“National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) urges all production houses, studios, stables, galleries, organisations, associations, groups, artistes, monitors and/or the publics to submit their 14th edition National Arts Merit Awards(NAMA) entries to NACZ offices which are due on 30 November 2014.
“Entry forms are being obtained from NACZ offices throughout the country, at National Gallery of Zimbabwe, registered arts associations and organisations in Zimbabwe, Delta Gallery and Diamond Studios.
“NAMA’s 14th edition will be held in Harare on 14 February 2015. Consideration will ONLY be given to artist works done from 1 December 2013 to 30 November 2014.”
For the all entries to be accepted, they have to accompanied by the artiste’s product in any form of their choice.
“Works of art to be considered should be submitted either through an arts organisation, institutions or associations registered with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) or directly to National Arts Council of Zimbabwe offices,” said NACZ.
“The judges’ decision is final, no contestation will be accepted for any reason whatsoever.”
The NACZ launched the inaugural National Arts Merit Awards in 2002.
Excelling artistes are rewarded with the aim of stimulating more interest in the arts while at the same time raising profile of the same artistes.
The awards are a means of encouraging creativity and excellence in the quality of the arts in Zimbabwe.
The awards aim to inspire artistes to strive for higher and original forms of creativity and provide an opportunity for arts disciplines to jointly market and publicise the arts locally, regionally and internationally.Advertisement
