KHAMA Billiat remains an injury doubt for champions Mamelodi Sundowns as they prepare to take on Lamontville Golden Arrows in Pretoria on Wednesday.
The Zimbabwe international complained of a groin injury at training on Friday and was left out of Saturday’s 2-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs at Loftus Versfeld in the Absa Premiership.
Billiat did play last weekend for Zimbabwe in friendly international in Harare. He came on as a second half substitute in a 3-0 win over Tanzania which served as a warn-up for January’s African Nations Cup finals in Gabon.
Billiat returned to training at Sundowns in the week but then felt discomfort in training on Friday, Sundowns officials told SuperSport.com
After convincing performances against Chiefs from both Anthony Laffor and Percy Tau in the game against Chiefs, Sundowns will be tempted to allow Billiat more rest, especially with participation in the Club World Cup on the horizon.
If Sundowns win on Wednesday, they have a chance to move further up the Absa Premiership table.
Durban-based Arrows moved up to second place in the standings after a late 1-0 win over Highlands Park away in Tembisa on Sunday.
