Black Rhinos stun Highlanders

Black Rhinos 1-0 Highlanders
BLACK Rhinos produced the biggest shock of Match day 17 in the Castle Lager Premiership when they beat Highlanders 1-0 at Rimuka Stadium in Kadoma on Wednesday.
This was Highlanders’ second loss of the season and does not bode well for coach Kelvin Kaindu ahead of Saturday’s Battle of Zimbabwe tie against perennial rivals Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium.
Despite the loss, Highlanders remained on top of the standings with 32 points, as Dynamos and ZPC failed to take advantage after both were held to 1-1 draws by Chicken Inn and Chiredzi respectively.
Highlanders have not scored in 270 minutes – they played two goalless draws against Bantu Rovers and How Mine before Wednesday’s loss.
Lot Chiwunga gave Rhinos the all-important points at Rimuka in the 62nd minute, making sure that new coach Joisten Mathuthu has picked up seven points from a possible nine.
Rhinos beat How Mine 1-0, drew 0-0 against Dynamos over the weekend before Wednesday’s win.
At Gwanzura Stadium, Dynamos were expected to overrun struggling Chicken Inn and surged ahead thanks to a rather dubious penalty through Rodreck Mutuma five minutes after the breather before Brian Mbiriri’s stunning equaliser in the 62nd minute.
Mutuma could have handed Dynamos the points in the 87th minute but shot over the bar from two metres out after goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze had spilled the ball.
Elsewhere,ZPC Kariba, still unbeaten in 18 matches, fell behind in the fourth minute through an own goal by Ephraim Mwinga before Tsepo Ranthokoane drew level.
At Luveve, Bantu Rovers held FC Platinum to a 1-1 draw. Nqobizitha Ncube gave the hosts the lead after 56 minutes before Zambian international Aaron Katebe headed home 10 minutes from time.
Triangle stunned How Mine 2-0 at Luveve via goals from Hillary Bakacheza and Praise Tonha, while Shabanie Mine and Harare City drew 2-2 at Maglas in Zvishavane.
Shabanie were on top of the game, racing into a 2-0 lead after 42 minutes through Allen Tavarwisa and Wellington Kamudyariwa.
But the second half belonged to City as Osborne Mukuradare gave them home in the 56th minute before Francesco Zikumbawire completed the comeback three minutes from time.
