Bob Nyabinde in Valentine’s Day show, ‘Headmaster’ promises fireworks

LOVERS will be in for a treat on Valentine’s Day as Afro-Jazz solo musician Bob Nyabinde entertains crowds at the newly commissioned  600-seater Theatre in The Park (TITP) stage in the lush green Harare Gardens on February 14.
Titled Zimbabwean Love Songs, the show is set to run from 1400hrs until dusk featuring some of the greatest local love tunes from the 1980s.
Rooftop Promotions director Davis Guzha said they are using the show to test their new venue which officially opens next month.
“TITP venue is almost 70% complete and Rooftop Promotions will be using this show, ‘Zimbabwean Love Songs’ by Bob Nyabinde as a pre-launch event to the final and official opening of the new venue,” Guzha said.
He said the show will also give them an opportunity to identify and fine tune areas that need attention before the official opening.
“We did a trial run last year with a foreign theatre production from Norway, ‘Guinea Fowl and it helped us to measure and tighten loopholes when hosting international productions at our new venue,” he said.
“And this Zimbabwean love show by Bob Nyabinde will also help us to see what areas need to be tightened up when we host a show of such a nature in future.”
The Zimbabwean Love Songs’ Valentine Special will also give loved ones a space to show their compassionate love.
Revellers will also be requesting songs dedicating them to their loved ones during the show.
Nyabinde himself said unlike other things which fade, love and music never go out of fashion.
“Zimbabwean Love Songs will cater for everyone, sweethearts, family and friends, the songs will also remind you of someone you either still or used to love,” he said.
“This means there will be lots of songs request and few surprises from our upcoming album.”
