Bosso face DeMbare in Bob90 Cup

Highlanders 2 – 1 Harare City
HIGHLANDERS came from behind to beat Harare City in the Bob90 Super Cup elimination match at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday to set up a final against bitter rivals Dynamos next weekend.
Dynamos, as the defending champions, were given a bye in the competition that ran into problems on Wednesday when a dinner to fundraise for the prize money was cancelled at the last minute without explanation.
The prize money is yet to be released by the sponsors, who are fronted by troubled Harare businessman Stan Kasukuwere, brother to Zanu PF minister Saviour.
Stan has recently been in the courts for failing to pay rentals at the place he stays while part of his company trucks were auctioned last week.
That alone could have scared potential sponsors for the competition which only managed to snare one company, fast food outlet Chicken Slice, who branded the two team’s jerseys.
On the field of play, Harare City stormed into the lead when Nathan Ziwini’s long ball was poorly headed back to goalkeeper Munyaradzi Diya and Misheck Mburayi easily lobbed over for the opener in the 43rd minute.
Debutantes Kuda Mahachi and Charles Sibanda led the Highlanders fight back with exquisite runs down the wings and Peter Rio Moyo equalized on the stroke of halftime when he slotted home from a corner kick as the Harare City defenders went to sleep.
But Bosso, playing in front of almost 10 000 fans, saved the best for last when Milton Ncube, later named the man of the match, blasted a home a first time short from the edge of the box to beat a diving Nomore John, in goal for City.
There was time also for Highlanders stand-in coach Mark Mathe to give Welcome Ndiweni and Valentine Ndaba their debuts in the hosts’ colours.Advertisement
