HIGHLANDERS and FC Platinum will have the last chance to gauge their squads before next week’s start of the PSL season when they face off in a friendly match at Mandava Stadium on Saturday
The match had initially been pencilled for Sunday but had to be shifted back to Saturday.
This is the second time for the teams to meet this pre-season following Highlanders’ 2-0 win over FC Platinum at Barbourfields Stadium last month.
Highlanders go into this match smarting from last weekend’s 2-0 Bob90 defeat to old nemesis Dynamos.
FC Platinum coach, Lloyd Mutasa admitted the result of the match will help them assess their preparedness for the upcoming season.
“Obviously this game will give us a picture on how we are ready for the new season so we are taking it seriously. Highlanders are a strong team and they provide us with a good platform for a final look at the shape of the boys,” Mutasa said.
“They beat us when we visited them last month in a match they gave us strong challenge. We also respect the fact that they are also serious about this match.”
FC Platinum striker Njabulo Ncube missed a penalty when the platinum miners visited his former pay masters, Highlanders and this time he will face them again away from the hostile Barbourfields environment.
For Highlanders returnees Joel Ngodzo, Charles Sibanda and Welcome Ndiweni, it would be their first return to Mandava since ditching FC Platinum in January.Advertisement
