ZIMBABWE is readying for the arrival of Canadian pop star Bryan Adams, the first such high- profile performance in the country in years.
His agent in Harare, David Davies said Tuesday all the 3,475 tickets for the show January 24 were sold out within 10 hours of going on sale in November last year, underpinning the popularity of the rock star in Zimbabwe.
The show will be held at the 5,000 seat Harare International Conference Center, Davies said, adding everything was now in place for the high-profile show.
“Everything is on track. We are now just waiting for the artist to come,” he said.
Adams’one-day performance in Zimbabwe will be ahead of a series of other performances in South Africa from January 25 to 31 as part of his “Bare Bone” world tour.
Davies said they took advantage of Adams’ shows in neighboring South Africa to apply for the slotting in of Zimbabwe to accommodate the Zimbabwean audience.
Adams’s performance in Zimbabwe comes after the performance by American rhythm and blues singer Akon alongside Jamaican reggae star Sean Paul in 2010.
The performances by the two international artistes were part of government’s “celebrity host program” aimed at marketing Zimbabwe as an attractive tourist destination after years of economic decline.Advertisement
