A BULAWAYO man appeared in court this Tuesday charged with attempting to rape his stepdaughter.
Bongani Ngulube, 50, of number 159 Dumisani road Harrisvale, appeared before magistrate Sibongile Mpala who referred the case to the remand court.
According to court papers, the incident occurred on the 7th of December, at around 2100 hours, when Ngulube reportedly instructed the complainant to come to his bedroom.
Whilst in the room, Ngulube allegedly instructed the woman to spread the bed.
Court heard that, Ngulube then closed the door and pushed the complainant to the bed with the intention of raping her.
Prosecutors say the complainant overpowered Ngulube, then managed to escape from the room and reported the case to the police. Magistrate Msipa referred the case to the remand court.
