Caps United 2-0 Chicken Inn, Highlanders 1-1 Triangle, Hwange 1-1 Dynamos
CAPS United striker Leonard Fiyado scored twice as the Harare side cut down Castle Premiership leaders Chicken Inn to size at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.
With the win, Mark Mathe’s side moved into fifth place with 24 points.
Fiyado scored the opener in the 24th minute when veteran striker Leonard Tsipa roasted Brian Mbiriri on the left and centred the ball for a tap in.
He completed his double in the 89th minute again benefiting from Tsipa’s pass although Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas was left fuming claiming it was scored from an offside position.
“Well done to the referee for aiding Caps United; he missed our penalty and the next minute he allows an offside goal to stand. A pilot in his jet could see that it was a clear offside,” Antipas said at the end of the match.
At Barbourfields Stadium, Triangle coach Kelvin Kaindu’s emotional return was spoiled by Highlanders’ man of the moment Knox Mutizwa who scored the equaliser in the 54th minute.
Pasca Manhanga, a former Bosso payer, had given the visitors the lead after eight minutes.
Then in the 22nd minute, defender Charles Rukwanhi was red carded for a second bookable offence after the referee Hardly Ndazi adjudged that he was wearing a different colour in his tights.
At the Colliery, Dominic Chungwa scored for Dynamos three minutes after the breather as the defending champions salvaged a point against Hwange.
The coalminers had scored through Munyaradzi Mungadze after eight minutes.
Dongo Sawmill recorded their second win of the season after beating Whawha 1-0 at Vengere Stadium in Rusape courtesy of a Physwell Madhanzi strike, three minutes from time.
How Mine came out with a point at Sakubva against Buffaloes in a 1-1 draw. Farai Banda converted from the spotty after six minutes for the soldiers before Godfrey Nguwodzawo equalised on the hour mark.
