CAPS pee shame: Zvirekwi summoned

THE Premier Soccer League (PSL) have summoned Harare giants Caps United and star player Hardlife Zvirekwi to appear before their Disciplinary Committee on Wednesday.
Zvirekwi will answer charges of bringing the game into disrepute following an incident in which urine was sprinkled on Buffaloes goal area during their league match at Gwanzura Stadium on 20 April.
PSL chief executive Kenny Ndebele confirmed the Green Machine has been charged together with their player Zvirekwi following the embarrassing incident at Gwanzura.
“Caps United will appear before the Disciplinary Committee on May 7 to answer charges of unruly behaviour during their league match against Buffaloes last month.
“Hardlife Zvirekwi has also been summoned by the Disciplinary Committee because Buffaloes alleges that he was involved,” said Ndebele.
Zvirekwi is alleged to have sprinkled urine on the Buffaloes bench at halftime, forcing the visitors’ technical staff and players to sit on the ground throughout the second half.
The Harare giants’ fans are also alleged to have thrown a bottle with urine like substance to the Buffaloes goal area.
The match which ended goalless was being screened live on SuperSport 9 and the PSL has described the incident as embarrassing and a bad advertisement for the local game.
This would be the first disciplinary case of 2014, with United unlikely to escape a penalty.
Buffaloes said in their letter of complaint lodged with the PSL: “We pray that necessary disciplinary action be taken against CAPS United as a club for the scoundrel conduct of its players and
supporters and also against the players individually, particularly Hardlife Zvirekwi, for his deplorable leading role in pouring and sprinkling urine on the bucket seats in the Buffaloes reserved
dugout.”Advertisement
