Caps United 2-1 Chicken Inn
CAPS United completed a double over Bulawayo side Chicken Inn in a premiership match played Wednesday at the National Sports Stadium.
United handed the visitors a 2-1 defeat with Moses Muchenje and Hardlife Zvirekwi scoring the two goals for the home side.
Chicken Inn scored through PSL leading goal scorer Tendai Ndoro who took his goal tally to 13 in the campaign so far.
At Rufaro Stadium Harare City battled their way from a goal down to earn a crucial point against relegation candidates Black Mambas following a 1-1 draw.
Nicholas Alifandika thrust Black Mambas into the lead after 14 minutes in a goal mouth scramble to give the police confidence.
But Harare City fought back to equalize at the stroke of the first half through a superb header by Osborne Mukuradare off a cross from Tongai Chiworeso from the left.
The draw saw Harare City relinquishing third place to FC Platinum who defeated champions Dynamos 2-0 at Mandava Stadium.
The Sunshine City boys are now on fourth position on the league table with 42 points from 24 matches- the same as Dynamos but are below because of an inferior goal difference.
However, Harare City coach Bigboy Mawiwi is still confident of laying his hands on the championship.
“It’s still game on. There are just two points separating us. But the result is disappointing for us,” he said.
“We were in control but our finishing left a lot to be desired. There are still six games to go and the race remains wide open.”
Black Mambas assistant coach Martin Bonongwe said they were satisfied with a share of the spoils.
“A point gained is better than nothing,” he said.
“We would have appreciated if we got maximum points but to earn a draw against Harare City is crucial. Harare City are one of the top teams in the league.
“We struggled in the first half but were stronger after the break. We now need to push hard in the remaining six matches and try to collect maximum points to survive.”
