CAPS United skipper, Tapiwa Khumbuyani, is adamant that the Harare giants are still very much in the championship race and can win the league title on goal difference.
Khumbuyani, however, admitted fate is no longer in their hands as they will have to rely on results elsewhere.
“It would be foolish to write us off now. Anything can happen in football. With 49 points we are still in there with a mathematical chance to lift the title,” he said.
“If Dynamos and ZPC Kariba draw, all we need is to win our match against Harare City at the weekend and then beat ZPC Kariba by big margins.
“That can land us the title but all that is dependent on how ZPC Kariba and Dynamos play.
“What we just need is to win our remaining two matches and wait on what happens, it could be our year.”
The Green Machine are in third place with 49 points will come into the picture in the event that the table toppers draw on Saturday.
But Caps would need to win their next two matches against Harare City and ZPC Kariba with huge margins and hope that Dynamos fall to How Mine in their last match.
That scenario would see Caps United lifting the coveted trophy on goal difference as they can finish the campaign with 55 points — the same as Dynamos.
