CAPS UNITED goal keeper Jorum Muchambo was Friday arraigned before the courts after he allegedly stole a cell phone and goods worth $835 from his ex-girlfriend.
Muchambo appeared before magistrate Rumbidzai Dzumbira facing theft charges.
He was remanded out of custody to next week for trial continuation.
The 33 year old footballer denied the allegations arguing that the allegations his ex-girlfriend, Talent Matsengarwodzi is levelling against him were only meant to tarnish his image.
He told court through his lawyer that Matsengarwodzi gave him the alleged stolen goods including two cell phones, a bottle of lotion, reading glasses and two t-shirts.
But Matsengarwodzi said her relationship with Muchambo went sour after she was made a brand ambassador for CAPS United.
Matsengarwodzi told court that she only discovered that her phone was missing after Muchambo sent her a screen shot she took with her phone.
She further told court that she had evidence to prove that Muchambo indeed stole her goods.
She also told court that no one had access to her house except Muchambo.
Prosecuting, Progress Maringamoyo said Muchambo committed the offence between June and July last year.
He allegedly went to Matsengarwodzi’s place of residence in Strathaven and stole her goods.
