Caps United are planning a tour of Malawi for a series of friendly match as they gear up for the upcoming PSL season.
The former champions have been playing in the shadow of their arch-rivals Dynamos and Highlanders in recent years and have shown intent to reclaim their glory old days.
Team manager Luis Mayo could not confirm the exact dates and their pre-season itinerary but said they are working on taking their pre-season to Malawi.
“We are planning to travel to Malawi for some friendlies there next month. We will announce the dates and teams we will play against in due course. This we are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring we have concrete preparations for the new season,” Mayo said.
United have Malawian winger Gerald Phiri (jnr) in their ranks and have in the past enjoyed success with Malawian internationals like Joseph Kamwendo and Hadji Tambala.
Mayo said following a huge turnout of trialists and players who are currently training with the team, coach Taurai Mangwiro is close to finalising his squad that will do duty this year.
They have so far far United have signed midfielder Pervington Zimunya from Shabanie Mine and well-travelled forward Tongai Magwendere who was with Hippo Valley last season.
Forward Tawanda Nyamandwe, defender Ronald Pfumbidzai, Tawanda Munyanduri and David Rediyoni have joined newly-promoted ZPC Kariba.Advertisement
