CAPS Utd bid to sign Zvasiya collapses

CAPS United’s dream to sign Kaizer Chiefs defender Lincoln Zvasiya has collapsed after the Harare football giants failed to beat the March 25 Fifa cut-off date for player transfers.
United coach Taurai Mangwiro had been hoping to tie down the defender to a contract after his loan deal at Greek club OFI Crete ended prematurely at the end of last year.
Zvasiya had been training with CAPS United after spending time training with another Harare City, where nothing came out of his stint.
His only hope was to sign for Caps United but the club said this was no longer possible to do so because the deadline has already passed.
“We have realised it’s no longer possible to sign the player because cut-off date has passed. We were supposed to have signed before March 25 for him to be given an international clearance,” said Mangwiro.
Zvasiya last played competitive football in October while still in Greece.
Mike Makaab of ProSport International, who represents Zvasiya, said they would be engaging Chiefs at the end of the season to discuss the way forward.
“Lincoln is training in Zimbabwe and we have people helping us there but for now it is a wait-and-see situation, but we hope to see him playing.
“However, we will definitely be sitting down with Chiefs at the end of the season to discuss his future because he is still contracted to the club,” said Makaab.Advertisement
