CARA Black’s hopes of a second US doubles title ended Thursday with a disappointing exit in the Semi-finals.
Cara and her Indian partner Sania Mirza went down in straight sets to Swiss-Italian pair of Martina Hingis and Flavia Pennetta at the Grand Slam event here.
Seeded third, the Indo-Zimbabwean partnership lost 2-6, 4-6 to their unseeded rivals in a semi-final match that lasted for an hour and 10 minutes.
Cara and Sania failed to convert six of the seven break points that came their way, where as their opponent broke them four times out of five chances at the Louis Armstrong stadium.
Cara won the doubles title at Flushing Meadows in 2008.
This year she also took part in the mixed doubles with Indian Leander Paes but they were knocked out in the quarter finals.
