MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa demanded the sacking of Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba and reconstitution of the national electoral management agency.
Addressing thousands of supports at his ‘Thank You’ rally in St Mary’s Chitungwiza on Saturday, Chamisa said Justice Chigumba has proved that she cannot run an effective and credible election.
“Going forward, we believe that Chigumba and her commissioners are incapable of running an effective and credible election in this country,” he said.
The MDC Alliance leader rejects his defeat in the July 30 elections, which were won by President Emmerson Mnangagwa with his Zanu PF party claiming a two-thirds majority in Parliament.
He accuses ZEC of manipulating the outcome in favour Mnangagwa and the ruling party.
“Chigumba has clearly shown that she is biased and we are going to ask that ZEC be disbanded because ZEC rigged the election,” Chamisa said Saturday.
