CHAN: Unpaid Warriors threaten boycott

ZIMBABWE players missed training on Friday night and have threatened to not fulfill their Chan third-place play-off match against Nigeria.
Warriors players are reportedly protesting the non-payment of bonuses and allowances promised to them by the Zimbabwe Football Assocation (Zifa) for good performance at the tournament.
Zimbabwe reached the semi-finals and lost 5-4 on penalties to Libya on Wednesday night, but could fail to pitch up for their obligatory third-place match against the Super Eagles on Saturday if Zifa do not address the issue.
“All we have got from the management is promises and more promises. We feel that we have done a good job by reaching the semi-finals,” a player who wished to remain anonymous told the Daily News.
“As players we fear that when we get to Zimbabwe, Zifa might fail to pay us the money they owe us.”
Saturday’s Chan third-place play-off between Zimbabwe and Nigeria is scheduled to kick off at 17:00 at Cape Town Stadium.Advertisement
