With Chicken Inn are on a roll in the league race in which they are five points clear at the top and they came into Saturday’s match as clear favourites.
Also weighing the odds in their favour was the fact that they dominated Chapungu in the league with back-to-back victories.
But Tineyi Chitora stunned Joey Antipas’ men by thrusting Chapungu ahead 10 minutes into the match.
Chicken Inn battled to restore parity for the better part of the contest with Ishmael Lawe finally handing Chicken Inn the equaliser 25 minutes before full time.
The teams battled to find the target, throwing the match into a penalty shootout.
With Chapungu converting all their five penalty kicks, George Majika was the fall guy for Chicken Inn after missing from the spot.
Chapungu’s semi-final opponents would be decided through a draw and the airmen last stormed into a final of a top-flight league competition in the 2002 Madison Trophy.
