ZIMABABWES Chevrons fell to a 2-1 T20 International series defeat after Bangladesh secured a four-wicket victory in the decisive third match at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
After the two sides shared the opening two matches, the visitors staged a better performance in a decider which was played Sunday afternoon.
Zimbabwe had a decent display in the first innings as they posted 143 runs in 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process.
Dion Myers was Zimbabwe’s best performer of the day as he posted 73 runs, followed by Brian Bennet who managed 47.
The Chevrons’ biggest setback was the middle order batsmen who struggled to attain runs, with captain Sikandar Raza recording 3 runs, while Ryan Burl managed 7 runs.
Brad Evans could not do better after coming on 6th place and record a single run which was higher than Clive Madande who got none.
With a target of 144 runs, Bangladesh had a slightly better outing in the second innings thanks to one of their opening batsmen Tanzid Hassan who was not bowled out till the end as he managed 66 runs in the process.
Although their conversion rate was not so convincing, the visitors reached the target in 19.4 overs, hence they won the match.
Zimbabwe is now shifting focus to next week when they host World Champions India in another T20 series set to be played at Harare Sports Club.
Meanwhile, Sunday’s match saw Raza attaining a big milestone of becoming the country’s most capped player with 314 appearances across all formats.
