Chicken Inn clash with DeMbare in Uhuru semi finals without stars Deco, Kutinyu

CHICKEN Inn will be without three of their stars including skipper Danny “Deco” Phiri as they clash with rivals Dynamos in the semi-finals of the Independence Cup at Rufaro on Saturday.
Apart from Phiri, the Gamecocks will also be without forward Tafadzwa Kutinyu and Moses Demera.
The trio is in South Africa for week trials with ABSA Premiership side Golden Arrows.
The Bulawayo side has recently been dominating meetings against Dynamos and these are players who have been key for Chicken Inn in their battles with the Harare giants.
But while admitting he will miss them, coach Joey Antipas believes his side can still brush aside the Harare giants.
“We will miss the players but it gives other players a chance. We are ready to take Dynamos head on. We are not looking into the past encounters because history is for historians. We are looking ahead.
“Remember this is a cup game different from a league match so this is a totally different platform,” said Antipas Thursday.
Dynamos were handed a 3-0 defeat in a league match at Barbourfields two weeks back and should be looking for revenge.
Defending champions FC Platinum are scheduled to take on Bulawayo giants Highlanders in another semi-final tie at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane also on Saturday.
The Uhuru Cup is funded by the government and winners walk away with $20, 000 while the losing finalists will pocket $15, 000. The third and fourth placed teams are set to receive $10, 000 and $5, 000.Advertisement
