CHICKEN Inn and Harare City will on Saturday gear up for the second legs of their respective Caf inter-club competitions preliminary round, when they clash in a friendly match at Barbourfields Stadium.
Chicken Inn will travel to Pretoria late next week for a date with South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns for a Champions League match.
Zimbabwe’s Confederations Cup representatives Harare City will also leave the country on Tuesday as they visit Malagasy side AS Adema.
Both sides registered wins in the first legs with Chicken Inn enjoying a 1-0 lead which they would be seeking to protect in South Africa.
But City face a tough task in Antananarivo after conceding two goals in the 3-2 victory over AS Adema at Rufaro Stadium last Saturday.
Now, both sides will have a chance to sharpen themselves against each other ahead of the crucial ties with Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas admitting that Sundowns remain favourites in the second leg.
“At least we will be playing a team that is also playing in a CAF competition so that puts us on the same level. Playing Harare City is very ideal especially that we are facing a tough game against Sundowns,” Antipas said.
“We have not yet won this round against Sundowns and they remain favourites considering their form. I am sure Harare City will give us the kind of preparations we need going to South Africa. We really have to be tough.”
As for Harare City, Saturday’s friendly match provides them with an opportunity to work on their defensive flaws which saw them surrender a 2-0 lead against AS Adema to win 3-2.Advertisement
