PSL title challengers Chicken Inn have been banned from the 2018 edition of the Chibuku Super Cup tournament after they were found guilty for the abandonment of their first-round clash against Yadah FC.
The match was abandoned after Chicken Inn coach Rahman Gumbo ordered his players off the field in protest over a penalty that had been given to Yadah FC some three minutes before the end of the game.
In its ruling, the PSL Disciplinary Committee found the Bulawayo side guilty and banned them from participating in next year’s edition.
They were also fined $2000 and Yadah FC were given the match on a 3-0 score line.
Bulawayo City will now face off Yadah FC in the other quarter-final match following the ruling.
A statement from the PSL on Wednesday reads: “PSL Ad hoc Committee awarded the abandoned Chibuku Super Cup first round match between Yadah FC and Chicken Inn FC to Yadah FC on a 3-0 score line.
“Further, Chicken Inn FC has been fined $2,000 (Two thousand dollars) and banned from participating in the 2018 edition of the Chibuku Super Cup.”
