Chicken Inn look to stay top of league table

NOTHING short of victory on Saturday against Whawha will be acceptable for Castle Premiership leaders Chicken Inn.
The match takes place at Ascot Stadium in Gweru at 1pm and will be screened live on SuperSport 9.
With 53 points in the bag, three more will do Joey Antipas’ men a huge favour in their search for a maiden title.
And the veteran gaffer is aware of the pitfalls of taking relegation threatened Whawha for granted.
“They (Whawha) need all three points,” said Antipas.
“In fact they need all four wins to stand a chance to stay in the league and that makes them a dangerous opponent. They are also playing at home.
“We have had time to rest and some key players have recovered from injuries and we will go there with the positive spirit that we have carried in the last games and hopefully, we will come up with a good result from the match.”
Whawha coach Lloyd Mutasa said if, by some miracle, they manage to get three points, they will mount a serious challenge against relegation in the last three games.
“We need a lift, if we can win this one, perhaps things will be better. But we have to admit that playing Chicken Inn is no easy task.
“One has to look at the games they played against Dynamos (won 3-0 at Rufaro) and Platinum (won 3-1 at Mandava) to see that they are a dangerous side and have set themselves very high targets,” Mutasa said.
Chicken Inn thumped Dynamos 3-0 in the first match at Rufaro, but lost 1-0 in the reverse fixture at Barbourfields.
They also thumped Platinum 3-1 at Mandava and drew 1-1 with them at Luveve in the reverse.
This means from four matches against (12 points) against the two sides they picked up seven points which has enabled them to keep their place at the stop of the standings for the last three months.
Platinum are second on 49 while defending champions Dynamos are third on 47.
Platinum host Harare City at Mandava and should they fail to win and Chicken Inn win, then it might be as good as ever.
