CHICKEN Inn trounced Shabanie Mine 3-0 on Saturday at Mandava to progress to the quarterfinal of the Mbada Diamonds Cup.
After a goalless first half, Cannan Nkomo thumped a long range effort past diving Victor Twaliki four minutes after the breather for the opener.
In the 62nd minute, Clemence Matawu finished off a good move from man of the match Kuda Mahachi for a 2-0 lead.
Mahachi then ran down the left unmarked, drew out Twaliki before firing into the near post for an emphatic victory in the 70th minute.
At Sakubva, CAPS United beat Motor Action 7-6 on penalties after the match had ended 0-0 in regulation time.
Tendai Samanja, Ronald Pfumbidzai and Leonard Fiyado converted spot kicks for United while Godfrey Moyo, Ngoni Maviri and Walter Musona scored for the Mighty Bulls to leave the scores at 3-3 after both teams had missed two of their five spot kicks each.
Emmanuel Mandiranga then skied his effort in sudden death to hand United a dramatic win.
At Rimuka, Buffaloes beat Black Mambas 4-2 on penalties to reach the last eight after they had played 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes.Advertisement
