UNVERSITY of Pretoria defender Patson Jaure is yet to join the rest of the squad in pre-season training as he is suffering from chickenpox.
A source within the club tells that the Zimbabwean defender was struck by the illness two Fridays ago, after his return from his home country where he starred as his national team beat Malawi 2-1 in an away African Nations Cup qualifier last month.
“He has been ill for more than a week now, but he tells me he is recovering well. I don’t know when he will be back at training,” says the source, who is also an AmaTuks player.
“I wish I could go and physically check how he is doing now, but we have been told not to risk that because it is a highly contagious disease.
“For the safety of everyone in the team, Jaure has had to stay behind closed doors, but we are all glad that he is recovering.”
AmaTuks coach Sammy Troughton confirmed that the 25-year-old has been out of training due to the illness, which he could have caught while doing duty for Zimbabwe.
“It is true that Jaure has been rested for the past nine days with chickenpox, which he is still suffering from,” says the coach.
“He has not trained with the rest of the team since we resumed our pre-season training about two weeks ago, but with the recovery, we expect him to join the rest of the team sometime this week.
“He has gotten much better and we hope that he will complete his recovery within the next few days.”Advertisement
