Triangle 1-0 ZPC Kariba
HARDLIFE Mavundi headed in the winner as Triangle defeated ZPC Kariba in their coach Sunday Chidzambwa’s first Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Gibbo Stadium on Sunday.
Chidzambwa took over from Saul Chaminuka two weeks back to finally make his return after 16 years, having spent most of his time either serving an Asiagate match fixing scandal ban, coaching the Warriors or Black Leopards in South Africa.
But Triangle made sure it was an unhappy return when Mavundi headed in the winner in the 73rd minute after a cross from Lameck Nhamo.
With the win, Triangle stayed in second position with 27 points, one ahead of Dynamos, but eight behind leaders Chicken Inn who edged Dongo Sawmill 1-0 in a Saturday match at Luveve which was however called off after 60 minutes.
Dongo complained that their medic had been beaten up and refused to continue with the match citing safety reasons.
Tafadzwa Kutinyu had given Chicken Inn the lead after 14 minutes.
At Luveve, How Mine defeated Hwange 2-1 to remain in fourth place with 25 points. Kuda Musharu gave the goldminers the lead after 11 minutes before Newman Sianchali levelled in the 24th minute.
Then it was left to veteran striker Limited Chikafa to seal maximum points for Luke Masomere’s men with a goal in the 54th minute.
Whawha and Chapungu shared the spoils in a goalless draw at Ascot while Tsholotsho and Flame Lily drew 1-1 at White City Stadium on Sunday.
On Saturday, FC Platinum were the biggest winners, and biggest moves on the PSL log, when they crushed Buffaloes 4-1 at Mandava to move from ninth to sixth spot with 21 points.
Wellington Kamudyariwa opened the floodgates in the 19th minute before completing his double in the 62nd minute.
Central defender Gift Bello got his name onto the scoresheet in the 27th minute while Tarisai Rukanda scored the 31st minute.
Caps United and Harare City played out a dull 0-0 draw at Rufaro on Saturday.
