Chidzambwa warns Pasuwa ahead of Guinea tie

VETERAN coach Sunday Chidzambwa has warned Calisto Pasuwa of underrating their Afcon qualifiers opponents Guinea who the Warriors meet on September 6 in Harare.
Pasuwa called what on paper appears to be a strong squad for the Guinea clash.
The squad includes European-based professionals like Nyasha Mushekwi, Knowledge Musona, Costa Nhamoinesu, Macauley Bonne and veteran winger Quincy Antipas.
But Chidzambwa feels Pasuwa should not be consumed by this seemingly-strong team and underestimate Guinea.
Chidzambwa was an ardent believer in Europe-based players during his time as Warriors coach before his successors started overlooking Zimbabwe’s best talent overseas.
“The squad looks very strong on paper and it is good to call up all the talent playing at the highest stage abroad. I think we can do well with this team which I see matching the calibre of the Guineans,” Chidzambwa said.
“But Pasuwa should not see Guinea as a walk over. They might have lost to Swaziland in their opening group match but that does not mean they are a side to look down upon.
“The approach should remain positive and strong to ensure all three points since we would be at home.”
Chidzamwa was the first coach to lead the Warriors to Afcon in 2004 in Tunisia.Advertisement
