HIGHLANDERS have received a timely boost ahead of hosting FC Platinum in Sunday’s league encounter at Barbourfields Stadium, after new striker Kasimero Chimbadzwa was finally released ZRP FC for a loan spell at the club.
Just before the league kicked off last weekend, ZRP withdrew Chimbadzwa citing that Highlanders were refusing to pay the US$3 000 they wanted to release the forward.
Highlanders on the other hand contended that ZRP were doubling the figure contrary to what they had agreed on.
Following the intervention of the top hierarchy at the police-owned outfit, the club was told to loan the player to Highlanders at the agreed figure.
Highlanders’ chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede said they are happy they finally found common ground on the striker.
“The boy had always shown determination to play for Highlanders and he was ready to take up the matter with his superiors whom we later on engaged and they ordered that he be released to us. We had felt that we have been let down until now that we have solved his issue,” Gumede said.
“We expect to have his clearance letter soon and he could play against FC Platinum this weekend. He is back with us from Harare where he wanted to sort out his issue. The coach really wants this boy. We are happy things are now OK between us and ZRP.”
Chimbadzwa is likely to add more attacking options on Sunday against FC Platinum.
He has been brought in as a direct replacement for Knox Mutizwa who will leave for Wits University in June.
Chimbadzwa almost joined Dynamos last season by the deal fell through at the last minute.
