WARRIORS forward Khama Billiat continues to attract overseas interest with Belgian and Chinese clubs reportedly the latest teams to want him after French side, Lille, sent scouts to watch the star play in the tie against Swaziland in a 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier in March.
The Warriors went on to beat Swaziland 4-0 with the 25 year old Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder scoring one of the goals.
Billiat has been influential in Mamelodi Sundowns’ title chase, scoring 10 goals- the first time he has reached double figures since joining the South African Premiership.
Apart from France’s Lille, yet another European side from Belgium is said to be keen on the Warriors’ star.
According to KickOff magazine, there is also reported interest from the super-rich Chinese Super League and the Arabian Gulf League.
A Chinese club is said to be keen on meeting what Sundowns will ask for and will also hand Billiat a lucrative deal, better than what he is currently earning at Chloorkop and better than what European clubs will offer him.
However, it will be up to Billiat to decide on whether he wants to head out to Asia and make money or take the path of seeking ‘football progress’ by heading out to play for a Belgian or French club that will not pay him as much as the Chinese.
Sundowns have already made it known that they will not stand in the player’s way should the right offer be tabled and should Billiat want to move.
The Brazilians just want to recover what they spent when they recruited the forward from Ajax Cape Town and part of what they have spent on him during his time at Chloorkop.
Billiat, who is tipped to win the PSL Player of the Year, turns 26 in August.Advertisement
