CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe, has asserted that the PSL title battle is now a three-horse race between FC Platinum, his side and Highlanders.
With seven games to play before the season ends, United trail leaders FC Platinum by just a point while Highlanders are on third place with five points behind the Harare giants.
On fourth spot is ZPC Kariba who have a distant 11 points behind FC Platinum, while Dynamos are fifth-placed and 12 points off the leaders.
At stake now are 21 points and with the possibility of dramatic turns to the race, Chitembwe believes it is for the three top teams to take the ultimate prize in Zimbabwean football.
“Our ambitions are clear considering the way we are getting results. We have a good chance and we are extremely happy with the situation we find ourselves in,” Chitembwe said.
“Our chances are as good as those of F C Platinum and Highlanders. I don’t know about Dynamos but our chances are realistic.
“We have been very consistent and if my memory serves me well we have never been out of the top three since the season started and that tells you about our ambitions and intentions.”
United edged Chicken Inn 1-0 on Sunday to remain on FC Platinum’s tail and boost their chances of securing a first league title since 2005.
Interestingly when they last won the league title, Chitembwe was still a player and is now on the brink of achieving that feat as a coach
