City discusses under fire coach Mawiwi’s future

HARARE City executive was on Wednesday set to meet to discuss the future of underfire coach Bigboy Mawiwi.
Media reports suggested this week that Mawiwi , whose team has had a miserable start to the 2014 campaign, suffering three successive defeats in three matches, was being sabotaged by a member of the team executive.
They fell to Chicken Inn in their opening match, before Harare giants Caps United — the team which denied them the championship last season handed them a 2-1 defeat.
And Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to newcomers ZPC has sent them into a soul searching exercise.
However, a source claims there are machinations to try and have Mawiwi sacked.
Although Mawiwi is not willing to discuss the matter, sources claim the coach is being sabotaged after he declined to retain two players Godfrey Nguwodzawo and Edgar Tapera this term.
The two players are said to enjoy a good relationship with one of the members of the team executive.
Mawiwi however declined to talk about the alleged sabotage in his team saying only they were facing “challenges”.
“We are going through a difficult period. We are facing challenges as a team, but I think we will be able to bounce back,” said Mawiwi.
On Saturday, one of the members of the executive is said to have celebrated when ZPC Kariba scored against City.
Also when the team went to Bulawayo for their opening match of the season, Kwenda is said to have given an instruction that there was no hotel room for Mawiwi.
Sometime this year, one of the players Phineas Bhamusi is also said to have been given the responsibility to hand out payslips to members of the technical team.
Last season Harare City lost the championship to Dynamos on goal difference after they had finished the campaign with the same number of points. Highlanders also finished with the same number of points and had to settle for second place.Advertisement
