Former Energy minister Samuel Undenge, 65, was Wednesday arrested for defaulting paying maintenance for his minor child he had with his first wife Angeline.
Undenge was nabbed as soon as he walked out of another court where he is answering to criminal abuse of office charges at Rotten Row magistrate’s court.
The ex-minister’s arrears have accumulated to 225 000 Rands.
He was dragged before Harare magistrate who released him on $100 bail pending his trial.
Undenge will be back in court on June 11 for his trial.
According to court papers, Undenge was in March 2014 ordered to pay maintenance for his one minor child with Angeline.
Court heard he failed to pay school fees for the child since January 2017 to March this year.
Prosecuting, Devoted Nyagano Gwashavanhu said Undenge’s arrears have accumulated to R225 300.
She said he had no right to default.
