A HARARE magistrate has warned show-off businessman Wicknell Chivayo that he risks being locked up if he again contravenes his bail conditions.

Chivayo recently returned to court after prosecutors applied to have his bail revoked.

This, after it was established that he lied about failing to report at ZRP Morris Deport over the Heroes Day break.

Chivayo told court that he went to the station but met a police officer who told him to go back home as the station was closed.

However, the State argued this was impossible as police stations never close.

This prompted the court to conduct an inspection-in-loco which established that Chivayo’s claims were false.

Meanwhile, after being warned, the businessman returned to the courts the following day intending to apply for variation of bail conditions.

He however, did not pursue the matter without giving any reasons, instead advising magistrate that he would approach the High Court.

Chivayo is charged with swindling Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) of $5 million.

He is also facing fraud charges after he allegedly duped former Chegutu West legislator Dexter Nduna and a local businessman.
