Cuthbert Dube steps up ZIFA campaign

ZIFA president Cuthbert Dube is set to meet PSL clubs this weekend as he seeks to garner votes for re-election in the March 29 elections.
The incumbent met ten provincial chairmen last weekend in a meeting that began on Saturday night and spilled into early Sunday morning.
Dube appealed for votes from in the meeting and his crusade is now targeting the PSL who make up 16 votes from clubs.
He faces outgoing board member responsible for marketing Nigel Munyati, former PSL chairman Trevor Carlse-Juul and Harare City chairman Lesley Gwindi in next week’s elections.
Zifa spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela said Dube is free to drum up support in any constituency.
“This is a free country in which everyone has a freedom of association. There is nothing wrong with the president meeting the electorate. Yes he is seeking votes and that is normal campaigning,” Gwesela said.
Dube is seeking another term after being voted into power four years ago.
His contestants have been conducting their campaigns quietly and Dube is widely tipped to claim victory.Advertisement
