PSL leaders Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas believes there is still much more to play for in the league race after witnessing their nearest rivals Dynamos beat them 1-0 on Sunday to edge four points closer to them.
Lanky forward Roderick Mutuma struck early into the match to decide the contest.
Playing at home, Chicken Inn were odds on favourites to claim three points after beating Dynamos 3-0 away at Rufaro Stadium in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
But Antipas’ men faltered to throw themselves into a more cautious mode with six games to go before the season ends.
But the 2010 championship-winning coach believes “it is still game on.”
“There are still 18 more points at stake and that’s a big number of points. So there is a lot more to fight for and it is still game on,” Antipas said.
“We are not regarding ourselves as champions as yet and our sights are also not yet on winning the league title.
“We are just playing to finish the season on a respectable position. So there is a lot to play for if we are to achieve that. We might have lost to Dynamos but will just keep on fighting.
“Congratulations to Dynamos because they played so well but that will not destruct us from finishing the season in the top four.
“I believe we will recover in the next games.”
If Chicken Inn bag the league title, it would be the first time for them to achieve that feat.
But winning the league crown is not new to Antipas who claimed it with Motor Action in 2010.
