DYNAMOS have suffered a major blow following revelations that former striker Rodreck Mutuma is not a free agent and can therefore not be registered with the PSL.
Mutuma was playing in South Africa on the books of Blomfontein Celtic before returning to Harare this season.
Dynamos lost 1-0 to army side Buffaloes in a league match on Sunday – their second successive defeat after losing 1-0 to premiership new boys Chapungu in a midweek match at Ascot Stadium.
And, Mutuma who has been waiting in the wings for clearance after he was released by his South African club Bloemfontein Celtic was part of the players not included in the side that lost to Buffaloes, because of complications in his move.
Dynamos secretary Webster Chikengezha said they were advised by the league’s chief executive Kenny Ndebele that Mutuma does not qualify to be registered.
“The Premier Soccer League have refused to register him because they are saying the nature of the termination of his contract does not qualify him to be free agent,” said Chikengezha.
“We need to read more on the statutes and see what they say in such scenarios. We got the ITC on Thursday and the papers were already with the PSL.
“Maybe, we have to engage Zifa on the matter because we need the player,” says Chikengezha.
